A little about me...
I was born and raised in Michigan, though I did move out of state for five years to teach in Nevada. I have a huge family that I missed! I also have a five-year-old daughter, Lexie, who had never experienced snow before moving to Michigan! She loves the winter and being close to all of her cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandparents. One of my favorite things to do in my spare time is cook. I enjoy finding new recipes to test out and having friends and family over for dinner. I also read often. Some other activities I enjoy are camping, fishing, sewing, doing DIY projects and crafts, running, going to parks, playing cards and board games, and anything else that involves spending time with family.
This year is the start of my second year at MVCA, but my eighth year teaching and third year as a math specialist. I graduated from Saginaw Valley State University in 2006, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education. I minored in Mathematics and English, though math is definitely my favorite! I decided to accept a job offer at Bailey Elementary, in Las Vegas, Nevada right out of college. I taught there for four years - I taught second grade for three years and the 4th year I was a math specialist working with third through fifth graders and teachers in kindergarten through fifth grade. During that time, I completed my Master of Arts degree in Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Phoenix. Then, in 2011 I made the switch from brick and mortar to virtual, at Nevada Virtual Academy (NVVA). I taught seventh grade my first year and was a Title 1 Math Specialist my second year, working with fourth through eighth grade students. In 2013, I moved back to Michigan and switched from NVVA to MVCA. I taught 6th grade last year and now I am the Math Interventionist for K-5 this year! I have always loved teaching and couldn't be happier working at K12! I am so excited to work with you and your student this school year! Please feel free to contact me any time you have questions about math! |
